Upcoming and Current Shows

My work can be at the Snow Goose Bookstore in Stanwood, WA until March 25. This group of paintings focuses on Camano Island and Stanwood scenes, snow geese, barns and cabins.
My work at Gallery North in downtown Edmonds are abstract waterfalls and can be seen until March 30.
My work at Gallery in the Loft on Camano Island shows a large landscape which is one of my most successful and is also my favorite. This work will remain until March 25.
My work can also be seen at Insights Gallery in Anacortes and the ArtsCouncil of Snohomish County in Everett and Blakely Home Interiors in Seattle.

As of March 28th, my work will be seen for the Tulip Festival at Valley Artists in or near the Lefebvre Barn thru the Tulip Festival. I am one of the featured artists.

I am part of the hugely successful Unclad Show in Stanwood the weekend of St. Patrick's Day.

I will withdrawing from Gallery in the Loft and Gallery North to prepare for the Camano Island Studio Tour over Mothers Day Weekend. In case you have not made it to this premier event, it is not to be missed, combining artworks, home tour, studios and garden tour.

I paint on canvas and three dimensional boxes, furniture and cabinets.

Why Produce Hand Painted Furniture

Why do I paint on furniture? It is much more difficult than painting on a canvas and more expensive, since it takes more paint and ruins my brushes. So, why would anyone do this difficult work?

Painting two dimensional paintings on three dimensional wooden furniture has taught me a lot about composition, since it forces me (and the observer) to look beyond the subject matter of the painting and focus on shapes, color and composition. I love to see the two dimensional images spread over something prosaic, such as a box, table or dresser.

More next week! jb

Vision Statement

My art is made to engage the observer,
with its color and stories. Because of this
complementary relationship, I often paint
commissions to clients' wishes, that is,
painting their memories, their stories, painting
not only with their chosen subjects but also
their chosen colors. My pieces can be the focal
point of design and decoration or the hidden
surprise that intrigues owners and their guests.
